Using composite geomembrane, the film and cloth are combined by hot melt technology

The geomembrane is damaged during transportation and on-site construction, which changes the destruction mechanism of the geomembrane and affects its anti-permeability and stress performance. The composite geomembrane uses hot melt technology to bond the membrane to the cloth. The bilateral geotextile can effectively protect the geomembrane from damage. However, in the process of manufacturing and building connection, hot melt technology will inevitably cause thermal burns and defects of the soil membrane, which has the hidden danger of preventing penetration. 

Therefore, when using composite geomembrane as the impermeable structure of the entire library floor, a new laying method is gradually adopted. That is, a separate composite geomembrane, in which the membrane and cloth are placed separately to ensure the integrity of the geomembrane. For example, the Datun Reservoir in the Shandong section of the East Route of the North-South Water Transport Project uses a separate composite geomembrane for seepage prevention (to prevent horizontal penetration at the bottom of the reservoir).



The expansion and deformation of geomembrane have a significant impact on its structure and application. Rising groundwater levels, sharp drops in reservoir water levels, dam filling and leakage of geomembrane defects may cause geomembranes to expand and even cause the entire horizontal anti-seepage system to fail. According to the expansion and deformation characteristics of the geomembrane, the expansion and deformation of the separated composite geomembrane can be simplified to spherical expansion and deformation with circumferential constraints to study its mechanical properties.
