How to distinguish geotextile and geomembrane

2020-10-22

Do you know? As the name suggests, geotextiles are industrial "cloths" formed by weaving and synthetic fibers. They are generally divided into woven and non-woven fabrics. Textile means that the raw materials are woven by traditional machines. Non-woven fabric refers to the bonding of raw materials into a cloth shape by thermal melting or other physical methods. The most common wet wipes use non-woven materials. Geomembrane is similar to plastic bags that are common in life. The main material is polyethylene and EVA (ethylene acetic acid copolymer), the same as the usual plastic bags. Different thicknesses are used to distinguish specifications. When the thickness exceeds 0.8mm, it is called "geoboard".

According to the difference between the two, the chemical and physical properties can be used in different construction occasions. Geotextiles have properties similar to cloth. Light weight, easy to stretch, easy to penetrate, not afraid of high temperature and freezing, and it is resistant to chemical corrosion. Can filter construction groundwater, reduce piping and quicksand phenomenon. Placing it on the steel bars will increase the friction between the steel bars and improve the stability of the structure. It can also be used to reinforce the foundation. Geomembrane is a polymer flexible material with light weight, ability to stretch and deform, drug resistance and low temperature resistance. It is widely used in the field of building waterproofing and is a flexible waterproof material. It can be used in environments that require ductility and large temperature changes, and its anti-seepage coefficient can effectively ensure the waterproof requirements of the building. At the same time, it also has the function of isolation and seepage prevention, which is widely used in special pipeline projects and dam water conservancy projects.
A reasonable combination of two different materials can achieve complementary results and give play to their respective advantages.
